We're so excited to celebrate our love of reading as a school community in March. A reading calendar full of activities to celebrate reading at school and at home will be sent home soon, as well as notes that explain our school-wide reading month activities, book collection for our first Used Book Sale, and our student bookmark contest!
I am very excited to announce that our very first project on Donor's Choose has been fully funded!
Our students will now have engaging and innovative activities to participate in during library visits. I cannot wait to see their excitement when they begin to explore the STEM activities. Thank you to those who donated toward this project. Your willingness to give to support my vision for learning in the library speaks volumes.
Thank you once again for making this possible for all of my students who visit the library!
On February 20th, students in grades 3rd-5th will participate in an author visit in the auditorium from 9:15-10:15. The author is Scott Seegert and the illustrator is John Martin. They are both Michigan authors who are published under James Patterson's children's imprint. Their first book is Sci-Fi Junior High, and the book they are touring for is the next book in the series called Sci-Fi Junior High: Crash Landing!
The visit is being organized by Nicola's Books. To learn more about the authors and their books, or to learn more about their event at the bookstore the day after our school visit, view their website at http://www.nicolasbooks.com/
It is important to me that our library programming challenges our students to think critically, problem solve, explore, build, create, work cooperatively, solve problems, and play - all skills that will benefit them in the classroom and beyond. I decided to create a DonorsChoose.org classroom project request to help support the purchase of STEM materials like snap circuits, coding skill kits, and engineering skill kits that students can engage in after our lesson and checkout time in the library. Thank you in advance for your support!
