About Mrs. Player
Hello! My name is Shakira Player, and I am excited to work with students this year in the library media center at Eberwhite! It is my goal that our school library program will foster a love of reading, inspire life-long learning and a curiosity for information and research, and support and enrich classroom instruction in literacy and technology. It is my goal that these experiences will create memories that will last a lifetime for our students!
This is my fourth year as the library media teacher at Eberwhite. Before becoming a certified teacher librarian, I was a classroom teacher for nine years in the Flint, MI area. I taught 4th grade (1 yr.), kindergarten (2 yrs.), and 1st grade (6 yrs.). I have also spent time in all grades Pre-K through 8th in other capacities such as tutoring, mentoring, substitute teaching, and summer school teaching. I have a special passion for reading, early literacy and educational technology.
In addition to my professional responsibilities, I'm married to a loving husband and we have two wonderful daughters. As a family, we enjoy eating good food, visiting our local public libraries, riding our bikes and exploring all that the Ann Arbor community has to offer.
Feel free to contact me if you have questions, concerns or suggestions about our school library media program. Please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or message me on your child's Seesaw account. Please leave your name, your child's name, and your child's teacher's name when inquiring about his or her patron status. I will respond to your email or message within 24 hours.
